Cover the, ahem, somewhat delayed second book in the Danish easy reader series I'm doing. With a job like this, I can't complain. Well, they could pay me better, but hey.Blog image

Sozzling Snejbjerg and Ole Comoll, the Drinking Doctor have designed their first beer label! Beer Dog is an American style lager, nice and hoppy. In case you're in Copenhagen, drop into Ørsted in Farimagsgade - Kim has it on tab too!

If Lovecraft designed Xmas DecorationsArtwise

This eldritch horror manifests in our home every year around Christmas. It haunts the dreams of psychics and aesthetes all over the neighborhood, and doesn't go away until well into the new year. Note the non euclidean geometry and the sickening, otherworldly proportions. Any demonologists out there who might be able to identify it, please drop me a line.

Going through my mother's house I found a book I remember from my childhood- Louis Moe's Ragnarok from 1929. No, I'm not that old. The book is. Wiseass.
Blog imageThese illustrations made an indelible impression on me as a kid... I think I can even recognize some of the compositions from my own stuff. Not that i'd steal or anything, mind you. Subliminal influences and all that.

Back in BlackArtwise

I guess it's about time I get back into American comics... been a while. So, very soon I'll start working on a new project , The Mighty, which is to be a regular DC series. Written by Peter Tomasi, as in "Light Brigade Tomasi". Oooh! Keep an eye out!Blog Image

Meanwhile, I'm warming up doing a couple of fill-in issues of Garth Ennis' and Darick Robertson's The Boys. In Garth's own words from the script: Unmistakable, obvious, disturbing.

As regards disturbing... My great effort from last year, and the year before that, The Chosen, still sits unpublished in the DC/Wildstorm vaults somewhere. What gives? And all that nice writing by John Arcudi, those glorious Bjarne Hansen colours...Blog Image

Ich habe ein grosse TieranatomieArtwise

The secret of success in the funny book business has always been a firm grasp of human anatomy. Did that sound... anyway. Despite the fact that my German is somewhat rudimentary, I've always been very grateful for my indespespensable copy of "Die Gestalt des Menschen" by Gottfried Bammes. After all, you can learn a lot by just looking at the pretty pictures.

Seriously, this is probably THE anatomy book for artists. It's gorgeously illustrated, not only with Bammes' own clear and precise drawings, but with a ton of excellent photographs as well as many, many examples from master draftsmen and artists, with the authors educational comments. This alone is worth the price of the book. Even if you can only understand half of what he says...

Herr Bammes has also written and illustrated a book on animal anatomy, called, surprisingly enough, "Grosse Tieranatomie". I believe both may be purchased through German Amazon. I highly recommend them both. Those who go in for that sort of thing can go hunting through my work for swipes...
